Guest Speaker: Julian Shaw
Julian is the acclaimed young director of the feature doco Darling! The Pieter-Dirk Uys Story, which won him a British Film Institute Award, IF Independent Spirit Award, and a Panorama Audience Award at the Berlin International Film Festival.
An AFI Award—winning film journalist, he authored the groundbreaking photo novel Modern Odysseus, which premiered at the 2009 Byron Bay Writers Festival.
Julian wrote and directed the dramatic short Clearing the Air, screened on Qantas In-Flight Entertainment in 2009, starring AFI Winner Marcus Graham and AFI Nominee Rhys Wakefield. He also stars as All Black legend John Kirwan in the biographical half-hour drama All Blacks Don’t Cry.
Julian is currently directing the feature documentary Cup of Dreams in association with Screen Australia, to be released ahead of the next Rugby World Cup.
