Guest Speaker: Annette Shun Wah
Annette is a freelance writer, producer, and actor best known for the television programmes she presented and produced for the ABC and SBS which included “The Noise”, “Eat Carpet”, “Imagine”, “Studio 22”, and “Media Dimensions”.
She co-authored the award-winning Banquet — Ten Courses to Harmony, which looked at the integration of the Chinese into Australia through their links with food. Her stories have also been published in the anthologies Grandma Magic, Come Away With Me, and Growing Up Asian in Australia.
Annette’s most recent projects are:
- COOLie — a unique two-week festival of Asian-Australian performance and storytelling at Belvoir St theatre, which she produced. The programme included Stories East and West, co-directed with William Yang.
- China Heart — a Web site and a location-based mobile phone app, combining storytelling, video dramatisations, oral history, information modules, and game playing.
Annette serves on the board of the Sydney Writers’ Festival, the Performing Arts and Arts Management Committees of Asialink, and is President of Performance 4a.
