Guest Speaker: Michael Lawrence
Michael LawrenceMichael was Executive Producer and Producer of Bra Boys. This feature film went on to be the most successful Australian documentary of all time. The local box office topped $2 million and a US theatrical release followed.
Michael was also the producer of Fighting Fear (the follow-up to Bra Boys), which one of the most successful Australian films of last year. It had the widest ever cinematic release of an Australian documentary, being released theatrically in the US.
Michael has partnered with Sir Richard Branson’s production and distribution company Virgin Produced on his latest project “The Crew”, a 10-part spin-off TV series of Fighting Fear. It airs in Australia in February 2013.
Before his move into producing, Michael was general manager of two of the most significant privately owned fashion accessory companies in Australasia.
With an obvious passion for film and media and the action sports market, Michael decided to launch his own business Garage Entertainment, a boutique media and entertainment company specialising in the production and distribution of action sports content. He owns this business with childhood friend and Executive Producer Nicholas Cook.
Garage Entertainment is now the largest action sports film distribution company in Australia and New Zealand.
