Guest Speaker: Mike Seymour

Mike is a highly respected member of the international visual effects and post production community.
His visual effects career started in the 1980s in R&D. In the 1990s Mike moved to post-production and installed the first Flame system in Sydney. Since then, he’s been nominated for an Emmy (for the TV series “Farscape”) and has both won and been nominated for multiple AFI awards for outstanding performance in visual effects. Mike has also won nearly every Australian award for television commercials.
Mike is an expert in many software applications including compositing (Shake, Flame), editing (Final Cut Pro, Smoke), 3D, and Digital Intermediate (Scratch). He is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (presenter of the Emmy Awards), the Visual Effects Society, and ACM SIGGRAPH. He regularly presents papers on workflow and visual effects technology.
fxguide.com and fxphd.com — two highly respected international sources of post production news and training — were also founded by Mike. He has recently started writing for Cinefex magazine in the USA. Mike has a B.Sc from Sydney University, where he also did his Masters and won the University Medal.
Mike will speak at Choc Tops about working with the RED ONE digital cinema camera. A working RED will be on display at Choc Tops.
