Guest Speaker: Alex Lykos

Alex LykosAfter a successful sports career Alex began a new career in the arts. He has been writing and acting for 12 years. In 2005 he formed Bulldog Theatre Company, which has since produced all eight of his plays.

Alex has won a variety of awards for his plays. However, he is best known for his record-breaking trilogy Alex & Eve, Alex & Eve: The Wedding, Alex & Eve: The Baby. The Alex & Eve series has been seen by over 28,000 people across Australia.

He adapted Alex & Eve for the screen and the film was shot in Sydney in 2014 with renowned director Peter Andrikidis. Alex plays the titular character’s older brother and the film is scheduled for release in the second half of 2015.

Alex recently completed his first novel Jerry’s Calendar Diary, to be published in 2016. He has now completed the development of his first television series with plans to go into production in 2016.

In the last few years, Alex has branched out from just writing and acting and is now also involved in directing Bulldog Theatre Company productions. He made his directorial debut in 2012 when he directed his own play A Long Night. In 2013 Alex directed Alex & Eve: The Complete Story and in 2014 he directed his own work It’s War, which is making a return season opening 11 June at Factory Theatre.
