Guest Speaker: Ron V. Brown

Ron V. BrownRon V. Brown Ron Brown has been a film and television producer for thirty years, owning and operating his own production company in Melbourne since 1975.

Prior to that Ron worked as a sound engineer, cameraman, and editor in television stations and television production companies in Sydney and Melbourne, including ATN-7, ABC-2, ATV-0, Mike Willesee’s Trans Media Group (“A Current Affair”), and Crawford Productions (“Bluey”).

He was Assistant Director on the feature-length special episode shot in Australia of the US series “McCloud”, and worked on independent Australian features including Mad Max and In Search of Anna.

Ron’s ability to cross easily from the creative to the business side of film has allowed him to participate in an unusually wide range of activities.

In a career spanning feature film and television, corporate communications, documentary, music video, and TVCs, Ron has worked on more than 500 projects.

As the proprietor of Forté Communications, Ron’s clients included ICI Australia (now Orica), DuPont, BHP, James Hardie Industries, CSR, and Telecom Australia (now Telstra).

In the advertising sphere Ron has been successful at the London Advertising Awards and has an impressive reel of productions for brands including Kodak, Kambrook, Victoria’s MetRail, and 7-Eleven.

A portfolio of over 100 music videos includes John Farnham, Crowded House, Daddy Cool, Little River Band, The Church, Pseudo Echo, Split Enz, Tina Arena, and Boom Crash Opera.

Ron is the only filmmaker to have twice won the Television Society of Australia ‘Penguin Award’ for Best Music Clip.

In 2015 Ron founded the Australian movie streaming service Ozflix and its not-for-profit sister organisation Australian Film Future Foundation.
