Guest Speaker: Ray Martin AM

Ray is a five-time Gold Logie–winning Australian television journalist and broadcaster. He’s best known for his work on Channel Nine, starting in 1978 with the launch of “60 Minutes” alongside George Negus and Ian Leslie.

He began his career at the ABC in 1965, later becoming their New York City correspondent. Ray covered major events like the Vietnam War protests and presidential elections.

Beyond “60 Minutes”, Ray hosted the variety show “Midday”, interviewed celebrities on programs like “Ray Martin Presents”, and presented “A Current Affair”. He also hosted specials like “Our Century” and “The Great Debates”. In 2003, he returned to “A Current Affair” before becoming Nine Network’s Senior Reporter in 2006.

Ray has covered many major events, including the Indonesian tsunami and the September 11 attacks. He has also hosted the Logie Awards, Commonwealth Games, and World Cup Cricket. In 2008, he led the official broadcast of World Youth Day in Sydney.

Guest Speaker: Peter Coleman ACS

Peter worked for several years as a professional camera assistant, having studied Communications, Sociology and Philosophy at Macquarie University between 1983 and 1986.

Having attended the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) in 1992, he went on to film a wide variety of drama, documentary, and IMAX films, working in over forty countries. During this time he has received numerous awards including an AACTA nomination and two Gold Tripods from the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS). In 2008 Peter was awarded accreditation by the ACS.
