John Buckmaster
John, currently completing a Doctorate in Film and Philosophy, has worked in training and education for over ten years devising vocational programmes, educational video productions, and media packages.
As a filmmaker John has had The Kiss, a short he wrote and directed, win Best Film at the ATOM Awards.
He is one of the founders of UBS Audio-Visual (later renamed UBS Film School) and also Sydney Film School (SFS). At UBS he was course coordinator and later director. At SFS he is a board member and Education Manager. (A DVD of student work will be handed out to everyone attending Choc Tops on the night.)
Over the past two years SFS has had 32 of its students entered into 43 local and international film festivals. John and two graduates of the school will screen works and provide tips for entering the international film festival market. This will include making sales from your short films and targeting the right festivals.
