Guest Speaker: Alice Bell
Alice Bell’s first feature film Suburban Mayhem was invited to screen in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival 2006. She won the AWGIE for Best Original Screenplay that year.
In 2009 Alice completed a five-month intensive writers’ workshop at the prestigious Binger Filmlab in Amsterdam, producing the screenplay Gin and Tonic, which is currently in its final stages of development.
Alice directs music videos, having made clips for Missy Higgins, Toni Collette, Little Birdy, and Jimmy Barnes. Her most memorable video, Silverchair’s “Straight Lines”, won Alice an ARIA Award.
Alice was one of the original writers on Network TEN’s police rescue drama “Rush”. She writes for Jacquelin Perske and Claudia Karvan on their show “Spirited” and wrote for the ABC’s award-winning miniseries “The Slap” (episode Connie).
Currently, Alice is one of the writers on the television series adaptation of Australia’s cult classic Puberty Blues, which starts shooting this month for Network TEN.
