Guest Speaker: Jenny Wu
A graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), Jenny’s credits span film, television, and theatre.
Fluent in English, Mandarin, and Shanghainese, Jenny was an assistant director and translator on the 2015 Chinese blockbuster Dragon Blade (Tian jiang xiong shi), working with Jackie Chan, John Cusack, and Adrien Brody, which took her from Beijing to the Gobi Desert.
Her latest role is in the Foxtel & Hoodlum feature film Australia Day, directed by Kriv Stenders. On television Jenny can be seen in the political thriller series “Secret City” and the highly anticipated second season of Jane Campion’s “Top of the Lake”.
Earlier this year Jenny appeared in Sydney Theatre Company’s production of Chimerica and in Siren Theatre Co’s The Ham Funeral.
In 2016 she starred in her first US action film Lady Bloodfight. She played the antagonist in an all-female martial arts tournament.
Other credits include the noir short film Inside (shot near Berlin), the upcoming reality TV travel show “Deep Breathing in Australia” with Chinese mega-star Liu Xiaoqing, Chinese feature film The Promise I Made to You (那年我对你的承诺), and the upcoming Mandarin-language serialisation of the Sony Pictures film Chosen, produced in partnership with Chinese streaming service iQIYI.
